Susan Zatopek, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, has been working in diabetes education and care since 1979 and earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing in 1986 in the area of medical surgical nursing with a special emphasis on diabetes. She has been a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1986 and became Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management in 2004. She was Diabetes Education Coordinator at St. David’s Hospital and Diabetes Program Director at Austin Diagnostic Clinic, each for 11 years, and she achieved Education Program Recognition by the American Diabetes Association at both facilities. She joined Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2002. She has extensive experience in working with patients who are on pump therapy, have diabetes during pregnancy, and type 1 and 2 diabetes. She has served as a volunteer in numerous capacities for the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the American Diabetes Association and pursues continuing education in diabetes.
