Erica originally moved to Austin to pursue undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. There she received her B.A. in English, with a minor in Biology. After graduation and working at Brackenridge Hospital as an emergency room tech, she moved to Las Cruces to attend New Mexico State University. Her interest in medicine and her long time love of the outdoors led her to a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in environmental health. After working on a variety of U.S./Mexico border environmental projects, she decided to further her education and received her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from A.T. Still University in Arizona. Once getting her P.A. degree she knew she wanted to be back in her favorite city, Austin, and made the move. Erica joined the TDE team in September 2007 and focuses mainly on diabetes and thyroid disorders.
